  2. Participation in ecological communities.
  • 9 are regarded as major phyla : Protozoa, Porifera, Colenterata, Platyhelminthes, Nematodes, Molluscs, Annelida , Arthropoda, Echinodermata 
  • Minor phyla : Rotifera, Acanthocephala, Nemertinea , Pogonophora
